Now I know those signs on that old general store in Goshen Valley are ringers. The others may be authentic, though not to that building, but this one’s definitely an outlier:
English all the way. Probably a repro. Nice graphics, though.
Note: cats should not smoke cigarettes.
This is on a window of an old general store on Goshen Valley Road, Hawkins County TN. That’s advertising!
This is in Sneedville TN, on Main Street. Classic metal & neon sign.
According to the company website, Piggly Wiggly was America’s first really self-service grocery store. The first store opened in Memphis in 1916. The company is still in business. This sign, which may be a repro, is on the side of a barn in Watauga County NC just off old 421.
My eagle-eyed navigator spotted this as we drove past it on old 421 in Watauga County NC. I checked on eBay, thinking it might be a repro, but it’s apparently legit. There’s one on eBay, with much better color, going for around $100.
